Rocky Passes Estate
Category(ies) No Categories
Rocky Passes is a cool climate vineyard specialising in northern Rhône varieties: Syrah (Shiraz) and Viognier. The Rocky Passes vineyard is at 300 metres above sea level on a gentle north east facing slope. It has clay loam soil over ironstone buckshot and is at the edge of an mudstone-granite ridge. Being a small vineyard, Candi and Vitto are able to treat their vineyard and wine with extra care. They have used minimal irrigation to establish the vineyard and, although not certified yet, they use organic practices and biodynamic preparations to produce unique quality wines. They crop at around 2 tons per acre to optimise ripening and flavour, and prune and pick by hand.
