BEAM Re-Vegetation / Tree Planting Day

BEAM members and friends are welcome to join Permacroft people for an informal tree-planting day on Sunday 9 June. We’ll be planting some sheoaks, bulloaks, red box, wattles and ti tree across a few different locations.

Bring:

• sturdy shoes. Boots (gumboots / hiking boots) recommended to keep out grass seeds.
• gardening gloves if you have them
• some food to contribute to a shared lunch

You may also like to bring a mattock (large or small). We have a couple and spades. We’ll try to get a few of the trees established in rockier escarpment areas (perhaps a job for a few hardy people), as well as in some closer and flatter locations where we already have stakes and the digging should be easier. (filling in gaps where earlier plantings didn’t cope with excess rain or heat).

Agenda:

• 10.00-10.30 arrive, tea and snacks in the kitchen hub
• 10.30-12.30 planting (perhaps small groups heading to 2-3 different locations
• 12.30-1.30 potluck lunch
• 1.30-3.00 walk/explore, help with the orchard, any remaining planting

Location:

210 Muncktons Lane, Sugarloaf Creek. Directions: turn off Sugarloaf Creek road. After a couple of kilometres see large Yuki Park sign on the left. Keep going another couple of hundred metres. When the road forks, stay left (the right hand fork is John’s Lane). 210 is 100m past the fork on the left. Drive along the (rough) driveway then park to the left of the collection of buses. The kitchen shed is the big pale green shed visible from the parked cars - find us there if we miss you arriving.
