About the Event
BEAM member and local ecologist Peter Mitchell is doing a mapping and recording walk along Dabyminga Creek on Sunday 24 March starting at 10am, and invites friends and members of BEAM to join in. Â
Dabyminga Creek Bushland Reserve is one of the Natural Treasures of Mitchell Shire. The reserve as axe-shaped with a long narrow corridor downstream to a wide area running up into the Tallarook Ranges.Â
The walk follows an old vehicle track on the flat floodplains downstream and back, about 5-6km each way, possibly with an explore up into the ranges.
BYO water, morning tea, lunch, hat/sunscreen, long trousers for snakes and good footwear – plus whatever is appropriate for the weather. We will carry lunch with us (and probably have morning tea when we arrive from about 9:30).
Where to meet: We will park at the end of Davis Road, 7.9 km from the northern Freeway entrance to Broadford, along Marchbanks Road and Davis Road.  Parking is on the right through the gateway into the Reserve. https://maps.app.goo.gl/5JmJozKTxnzyRs5r6
Walk length and difficulty: The walk will be about 12km there and back (or less if anyone wants to turn around). It’s a rough and maybe overgrown track, and we may do some rough off-track exploring. Kids welcome.Â
Please RSVP and include your phone number so we can contact you in case of changes to plans. Any questions, please email Peter via mitchell.moss@iinet.net.auÂ
All comers welcome.
