14 & 15 Jan 2022:

Dr Jamie Mapleson is a health professional working in Arnhem Land over many years.

EarthChat shares Jamie’s insights and experiences in working with Yolngu First Nations people, with a particular focus on the Coronavirus response, and the role of community radio.

Working with First Nations people in the community health sphere has its own set of unique challenges. Add the spice of a pandemic, and these challenges are manifestly greater.

It's all about communication. Information, misinformation, remoteness and traditional culture are alive in Arnhem Land. Working alongside First Nations community members and health workers has challenges and rewards in country where Aboriginal culture is strong and relevant.

It's also exhausting work, as Jamie will testify.
